Tips For RCI Timeshare Resales
Sunday, September 19th, 2010RCI timeshare resales are no different to selling any other timeshare… it’s not easy! Hopefully you didn’t buy your timeshare initially thinking of it as an investment. Not only was this probably never a good idea, with the economic climate as it is across the world, it is even less so today. A timeshare is just an investment in terms of your future vacations.
Now you have an idea that you are unlikely to see a profit, what about RCI timeshare resales?
When selling a timeshare you should not rush the process as you are likely to be dealing with the laws of other countries. Ask the resort where you have your timeshare, this is because they will be familiar with the market in their own country and will obviously have a genuine interest in the sale. If it’s a popular RCI resort, it’s possible they may have a waiting list of prospects they can put you in touch with.
Use a professional timeshare broker to help you sell if you don’t have the time to do the proper background checks yourself. Make sure you do your research on the broker though and go for a well recommended and established one as unfortunately, there are still a few bad eggs out there!
The Internet is an excellent source for selling a timeshare yourself. On the Internet your research will reveal a lot of information about what to do (for instance how to pitch your sale, the price, where to advertise etc.) and the sites where you can advertise your timeshare for sale such as Ebay. If you are selling yourself, make sure you have good specialist legal back-up and a secure system of payment.
May sound silly, but don’t forget to include your contact details (surprisingly, many people actually forget this). When using an email address that is going to be on the Internet, it is a good idea to set up a free web-based one specifically for this. This is because you don’t want is to find your normal email inbox choked up with spam after your email address has been ‘collected’ from the advertising site!
You will obviously have to pay a fee if you use a broker, so always check the small print. It is unusual for brokers to ask for fees up front, if they do, think carefully whether they are legitimate or not. Keep the above in mind and RCI timeshare resales should run smoothly and quickly. Should you be unable to sell, you could always give it away to a relative. But do make sure they are aware of any ongoing fees and that they can afford them.
