Each July, the Sixth Infantry Reenactment Group holds the annual Fort Buford Sixth Infantry Frontier Military Encampment, and the fur trade is interpreted just a few miles away at the Fort Union Trading Post National Historic Site. North Dakota Heritage Foundation members are admitted free.

Access to the Cranberry Glades Botanical Area is from Route 39/150 just north of the Cranberry Mountain Nature Center.
